Dr. Bianco also has experience with the da Vinci surgery for kidney surgery to remove renal cell carcinoma, called a nephrectomy and also a partial nephrectomy to remove a small kidney mass (tumor). When hydronephrosis occurs (urine backing up into the kidney) the place where the kidney and ureter meet may become detached. This is called a dismembered uretero-pelvic junction (UPJ) and the surgery to repair it and reconnect the kidney’s renal pelvis and the ureter is called a pyeloplasty. While the pyeloplasty is often performed with an open surgery Dr. Bianco uses the da Vinci surgery pyeloplasty. Dr. Bianco’s experience with Da Vinci surgery also includes cystectomy, the removal of the bladder when cancer bladder tumors grow deep into the bladder wall.
